Step into spring with an appetizer for any occasion – a charcuterie board! As someone who loves to host, this is one of my go-to snacks to assemble for any sized group of people. When our office is yearning for a pick-me-up, I’ll assemble one for everyone to snack on. The base of any charcuterie board usually revolves around cheese, meet, and crackers, but the fun part is when you get to start mixing in “filler” like nuts or farm fresh produce.
This time of year, our boxes are filled with fresh citrus, crisp apples, and tangy kiwi. We are also ecstatic to have early season, organic blueberries in the box this week! All these fruits provide a lovely compliment to cheeses like gruyere, brie, or cheddar. They also give a beautiful pop of color to the dull whites and browns of cheeses, crackers, and salami.
When assembling, you don’t need to overcomplicate it. Keep your guests in mind and include items that they will likely enjoy and easily be able to pick up. I always like to slice the cheese and fruit ahead of time before I assemble the board, that way guests aren’t spending too much time trying to cut the right sized piece. It also doesn’t have to be an expensive appetizer. Shop for popular charcuterie items at places like Trader Joe’s or Costco, then put your Talley box to use with colorful, fresh produce!
